Therapeutic Movement

Learn how to look after your own body and have a pain free body.

Therapeutic movement sits at the heart of what I do and at the heart of The Art of Unwinding. It's not about pushing the body harder. It's about listening to it and moving it in a pain free range

Drawing on nearly 30 years as a therapist, my approach to therapeutic movement is the driving force behind why i wrote a book to help people understand there bodies manage chronic pain conditions understanding how to treat trigger points understand how to stretch correctly when to strengthen and the importance of mobility.

Prevention is always more powerful than cure. Therapeutic movement is one of the ways I help people build the awareness and daily practice that protect their quality of life, It brings my book the Art of unwinding to life and it brings me so much pleasure watching people who stick with me noticing how much more supple they are how much more understanding they have of there bodies and how to manage them selves while staying pain free.

Over the years I have treated thousands of people with pain, tension, stiffness and restricted movement. One thing I have noticed again and again is that people are often given very little information about what they can actually do at home to help themselves.

This is where Therapeutic Movement comes in.

My aim is to give you simple, practical tools that you can take away and use in everyday life.

We work with movement, mobility, stretching, self massage, simple techniques to help you release trigger points correctly while helping you understand where tension is coming from and what you can do about it.

I want you to understand your body.

I want you to know what to do when your neck starts getting tight, when your shoulders creep up towards your ears, when your back feels stiff after a long days gardening or when an old injury starts making itself known again.

The aim is to put the right tools into your hands so that you can become more confident in looking after yourself.

What we might work with

• Mobility and strengthening
• Self massage and myofascial release
• Therapeutic stretching
• Simple techniques for reducing tension
• Understanding your body's pain patterns
• Movement for better posture and ease
• Tools you can continue using at home

Every session is adapted to the people in the room.

This is about finding movement that feels useful, accessible and right for your body.

The Art of Unwinding

The philosophy behind these sessions comes from the same place as my book, The Art of Unwinding.

I have spent many years learning how the body works and, just as importantly, learning how to explain it in a way that people can actually use.

I don't want all that knowledge to stay in my treatment room.

I want to pass it on.
